About Me

My name is John Gunter and on September 20, 2019, I filed with the FEC and declared candidacy for President of the United States with the Democratic Party. I am 53 years old and have a wonderful family whom I love very dearly! I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and I have worked as a software engineer in the Pacific Northwest for the last 29 years. Currently, I just ended an 18 month contract at Microsoft. My passion for good software has led me to study linguistics as well as mathematics at foundational levels, and when I have spare time, I enjoy reading college textbooks on practically any subject. I specialize in modeling the real world accurately and simplistically in ways that provide for sustainability in software.

In other areas, I worked a number of years to help the homeless, youth caught up in gangs, people with life changing traumas, addictions, and in various other areas.

I had a short bout in local politics one time and I hated it, but regardless, was able to relentlessly work to help solve a local issue haunting a community.

I reiterate, I hate politics. I’m not a game player, but I believe that, because of the repulsive actions of the current President and the Republican leadership, there is an opportunity and pathway to be honest, transparent, above board, and actually WIN with pure integrity and without playing games. I believe this happens to be a special, unique time for our nation that may never present itself again in our lifetime. That is what I intend to do if this plan comes to fruition.
